UGC NET Paper 1 Research Aptitude.
There are 5 parts required to study in Unit II for Paper 1 in Research Aptitude. Those are listed below,

RESEARCH APTITUDE
I.Let us discuss Research Aptitude:
There are 4 parts required to study in Unit II for Paper 1: Research Aptitude?. Those are listed below,
- Research-Meaning
- Research-Types
- Research-Characteristics.
- Positivism & Post-Positivistic approach to research.
1. Research meaning.
Research is the collection of data to a problem, analysis and finding solution in an exact manner.
- According to Marketing Management Author Philip Kotler has explained Research as follows
"Researchis the systematic design, Collection, analysis, and reporting of data and findings relevantto a specific (Marketing, HRM, Finance, Social) situation facing the company or Government. "
METHODS OF RESEARCH
II.Methods of Research
There are different methods of Research required to study in Unit II for Paper 1: Methods of Research. Those are listed below,
- Experimental Research
- Descriptive Research
- Historical Research
- Qualitative Research.
- Observational Research
- Focus-group Research
- Survey Research
- Behavioural Data
- Case studies
- Statistical studies
- Mathematical model
- Simulation methods
- Action Research methods/.
Research methods can be classified into 2 parts. Those are Qualitative research and Quantitative research. Now, Most of the research studies are using both Qualitative and Quantitative tools to conduct a Research. Some of the most commonly used Research methods are discussed here,
1. Experimental Research
Experimental research is a scientific research. The most Scientifically valid research is experimental research.
- According to Marketing Management Author Philip Kotler has explained Experimental research as follows
"Experimental research is capture cause and effect relationships by eliminating competing explanations of the observed findings. To extent that the design and execution of the experiment eliminating alternate hypotheses that might explain the results, the research and Marketing manager can have confidence in the conclusion."
1. Descrtiptive Research
Descriptive research
In other words, Descriptive research also called as quantitative research. Descriptive research used for Population studies. It is used to Identify characteristics of Population. Discriptive research is used Statistical calculation such as frequencies, averages, mean,median,mode and central tendency of variance and other statistical tools.
3. Historical Research
Historical research examined the past records. Human Resource Management department utilised this type of research for Employee Retention strategy.
- According to Human Resource Management Author V S P. Rao has explained Historical research as follows
"Historical research examined the past records thoroughly. Exit interviews are conducted to eleicit opinion of former employees. In an exit interview people who are leaving the organisation are asked to state problems that caused them to resign. This information is then used to correct problems so that others will not leave in organisation."
4. Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is a collection of data through Observation, Focus group, Interview, Questionnaire and so on.
Qualitative research is an opposite method of Quantitative Research type. Qualitative research is most commonly used in Social studies such as Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, History and other Statistical data required field of research.
5. Observational Research
Observational research is a qualitative research. This is commonly used in Marketing field.
Observation study from the required field. Observar or Research person talked with field personalities regarding details of research required topics.
5. Focus group research
Focus - group research is an expert person and invited participants(six to ten) meeting. Here, Expert person question and collect data from the the invited people regarding research field studies.

6. Survey Research.
Survey method is a quantitative research.
Survey method required framing questions and identifiy the field of survey and also sample selection whether random or unquantifiable.
7. Behavioural data
Behavioural data is most commonly used in Marketing.
Customers behaviour collection identified a brand of purchase and regular purchase . This is collected from Customer catalog and customer data bases.
8. Case studies.
Case studies is a kind of solution process to a particular case or cases.
Case studies is a kind of problem solving technique to a particular problem. Case studies is conducted for conflict resolution, new product launching and Product strategy..,
III. Research Characteristics.
There are different characteristics quoted and noted. Many researchers and famous authors described the characteristics of research as follows,
- Research findings induced the future research topics.
- Reseach should be followed ethics.
- Research citation details should be clear and powerful with originated replicate.
- A research article should be descriptive without anamolies.
- A research article should be a powerful requirement of current situtation and societal demand.
- A research article is being an applicable solution provider for the real issues which are same as discussed in the research article. In other words, A research article be a valid one for the same issue.

IV.Thesis & Article writing.
There are 2 parts required to study in Unit II for Paper 1: Thesis & Article writing. Those are listed below,
- Article- Format
- Styles of referencing.
I. Article Format
There is a general rule to write Article. Article should be a reader digest.
- Article- Format
- Select an appropriate Title.
- Author Name and Profession after title.
- Abstract - A small paragraph that denotes Article theme, content and Scope.
- Write the subheadings and content like a paragraph- Body parts
- Include statistical tools and charts where need clear perceptual explanation.
- Conclusion - It must be a reference for the future research scope areas and also a clear and clever conclusion.

There is a general rule to write Article styles referencing. This is a crucial part in Article writing. There are different methods of referncing styles followed as follows
